About
Biography
Theodora Serbanescu-Martin is an astrologer, writer, pianist, and scholar of the humanities whose practice brings historical scholarship, symbolic interpretation, intuition, and psychological inquiry into conversation. Working primarily within the Hellenistic tradition while drawing selectively on contemporary astrology and other symbolic practices, she approaches the birth chart not as a fixed verdict on a person's destiny, but as a rich framework for self-knowledge, reflection, and possibility. Her readings are immersive, collaborative, and deeply attentive to individual circumstances. She specializes in exploring questions of purpose, identity, relationships, creativity, personal transformation, and the patterns through which people understand their lives. Her approach is historically informed, queer-inclusive, anti-colonial, and explicitly non-dogmatic: she encourages clients to interrogate inherited narratives rather than surrender their judgment to any spiritual authority. Alongside astrology, Theodora holds a Ph.D. in Musicology from Cornell University, where her dissertation explored the intersections of nineteenth-century pianism, mythology, material culture, fashion, and the historical shaping of musical bodies. Beyond her scholarly writing, she maintains a prolific practice of intuitive and channeled writing, producing millions of words annually in explorations of consciousness, spirituality, relationships, and the inner life. This longstanding engagement with channeling, shadow work, and symbolic inquiry informs her understanding of intuition as a parallel mode of exploration, interpretation, and self-discovery alongside critical thinking and knowledge.
Approach to readings
Clients can expect an immersive, highly individualized, and collaborative experience that combines historically informed astrological interpretation with intuition, psychological inquiry, and an openness to the unexpected. I work primarily with Hellenistic techniques, but my readings are rarely confined to the birth chart alone: depending on the questions and circumstances that arise, I may incorporate tarot, oracle cards, bibliomancy (divination through books and literature), intuitive insights, and other symbolic practices. No two readings unfold quite the same way. Some clients prefer a more technically grounded astrological consultation, while others welcome a freer, more exploratory encounter. I'm happy to accommodate individual preferences, allowing the conversation to develop organically rather than imposing a predetermined structure or interpretation. Above all, I encourage questions, dialogue, and critical reflection. My aim isn't to deliver pronouncements about an immutable fate, but to open new avenues of understanding, illuminate possibilities, and help clients engage more imaginatively and consciously with their own lives. I take the symbolism seriously without asking anyone to surrender their judgment to it.
