Biography
Hi, I’m Dr. Joey Paynter. I'm a depth psychologist, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and Evolutionary Astrologer working with clients worldwide via Zoom from Santa Fe, New Mexico. What makes my work different is the bridge between a Ph.D. in Depth Psychology (Pacifica Graduate Institute) and over two decades of clinical practice and a decade of evolutionary astrology. While I love chart interpretation, what I care about most is helping you actively work with your chart in real time. I treat your natal chart not as a static script of fate, but as a living psychological blueprint. Rather than simply delivering information, we use process sessions to explore what is happening underneath: navigating major life transitions, untangling karmic and relational patterns, moving through heavy planetary initiations (Pluto, Saturn, Chiron), and clarifying your deeper vocational calling.
About the astrologer
I hold a Ph.D. in Depth Psychology with an emphasis in Jungian and Archetypal Studies from Pacifica Graduate Institute, along with master’s degrees in both Clinical and Depth Psychology. Based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, I work as a psychotherapist in private practice. Alongside my clinical work, I facilitate an online Astro Process Group for astrologers of all levels and co-lead Mysterium, a monthly women’s circle centered on creative ritual and deeper engagement with the psyche.

You won't just sit and listen to a list of planetary placements or fatalistic predictions. Instead, we use your chart as a living psychological blueprint to unpack what is actively unfolding in your life right now. Here's what you can expect: A deep and fun exploration of your chart that blends evolutionary astrology with my background in depth psychology. I hold a warm, trauma-informed container where we explore what’s happening underneath the surface from identifying root patterns, unconscious dynamics, and karmic themes without judgment. Our time will be spent looking closely at your core baseline (including the lunar nodes and planetary rulers) to understand where you have been, what old emotional ruts you are ready to outgrow, and where your soul is actively trying to stretch. If you're navigating major planetary initiations (such as Saturn, Pluto, Uranus, or Chiron cycles), we contextualize the discomfort, naming the archetypal season you are in so you can work with the weather rather than feeling overwhelmed by it. Every reading connects the mythic and archetypal directly back to your lived experience from your relationships, vocational callings, and personal boundaries. You will walk away with practical self-awareness, renewed self-trust, and clear ways to work with your chart moving forward. All sessions are held over Zoom, and you will receive a full audio/video recording and a copy of your chart to keep.

AvailabilityI see clients Monday through Friday, with flexible daytime and select early evening appointment options throughout the week. I don't see clients on weekends to preserve dedicated rest and personal time. I'm based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and all sessions are scheduled in Mountain Time (MT/MDT). Because I work with clients internationally over Zoom, I do my best to accommodate different time zones during my weekday hours. Typically, appointments are booked 1 to 2 weeks in advance.
